- Google confirmed that its Gemini AI model hacked into three real companies during a cybersecurity test in May, after being unintentionally given internet access and mistaking real systems for test targets.
- AMD hit a $1 trillion market cap for the first time, joining Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Meta in the club, after a five-day stock rally driven by strong AI data centre demand and the early rollout of its Helios server platform.
- Meta’s new Muse AI agent topped ChatGPT, Grok, and Claude for post-launch downloads, a signal that the race for AI agent adoption is now as much about distribution and platform reach as it is about underlying model capability.
- DeepSeek is set to brief the UN Security Council on AI this week, making it the first Chinese AI lab to address the body at this level. The briefing coincides with a high-level open debate on AI and international security chaired by South Korea’s president, with OpenAI’s Sam Altman also expected to speak.
